AARCH Society African American History Walking Tours

Explore the History of the Southern Section of Frederick City From the African-American Perspective!

Join us for our 60-90 minute unique walking tour as AARCH tour guides take you on an informative exploration of local history on All Saints Street and the surrounding area. Learn about the cultural and historical importance of the neighborhood that was the center of the African American community up until the early 1960s.

Registration and payment are required prior to each tour. Each tour is limited to 15 people and involves walking on fairly even ground. Tours will be conducted in light rain or shine!  You will be notified by email if the tour is canceled due to bad weather. (Not responsible for accidents. Video and audio recording are not permitted)

Available on request at least 2 weeks in advance. Group tours will be scheduled following confirmation from AARCH for the requested day and time. Group tour rates require a minimum of 8 people. Tours begin at the Heritage Center site – 125 E. All Saints Street.

  • $4/person for student groups.


Tour registration forms should include name, email address and phone number, and the day you wish to take the tour.

Group tour request forms should include the group’s name, number of people, contact’s name and e-mail address and phone number, and choice of 2 dates and times requested for the tour.
